Document Summary
Chapter 5 p. 99-113, chapter 2 p. 35-36. Average longevity: the average age you get to. Age at which a particular cohort will get to. Maximum longevity: the oldest age to which an individual of a species could hope to live. Active life expectancy: healthy independent old age, hope this to increase. Dependent life expectancy: years of living after loosing your independence, hope this to decrease. Industrialized: women live seven years longer than men. Health: absence of acute, chronic, or physical diseases. Wellness: wanting to go beyond absence of disease. When looking at disease (chronic, or acute) we often deal with chronic health problems with old ppl. This can interfere with the quality of the persons life. Can make it hard to carry out tasks, can be painful, can make it hard to do simple tasks. Always want to differentiate illness and normal aging. The more old you get the higher probability you will get a disease.
