Sugar research foundation paid two harvard ppl to look into heart disease and paid them to look into the role of fat and away from sugar. Big sugar shaped their science, this was unethical and in a way it changed the course of public policy. Published in the new england medicine which was a big accomplishment. How does this relate: when we think of our health, we tend to not think of the political side of the effects and this example shows us how they can be manipulated into not telling us the full truth. The story speaks of the complex set of factors or conditions that determine the level of health. Not just individual but health of the community, of the population of the city for example. Those in favelas may be healthy but they will not have the same health as those in rio.
