The axial skeleton forms the longitudinal axis of the body. The
components of the axial skeleton are:
Skull 8 cranial bones and 14 facial bones
• Assoiated oes – 6 auditory ossicles and hyoid bone
• Verteral olu 24 vertebrae, sacrum, coccyx
• Thorai age – sternum and 24 ribs

Protects: brain, entrances to respiratory system and digestive
system
The skull is made up of 22 bones:
