Document Summary

3 types of motor proteins: type of filament they bind to actin vs microtubules, the direction of movement do they move towards the plus end or the minus end, the cargo they carry. The myosin head walk towards the plus end of an actin filament. It overlaps with the 2 actin arrays and associated with the minus end: but when contraction occurs, the myosin is moving/inducing the movement and walk toward the plus end. Dyneins: minus end directed microtubule motor proteins: axonemal dyneins usually binds to the cilia or flagella. How kinesin walks along a microtubule filament: the role of atp is diff, have 2 motor proteins, each with atp binding capacity. If the motor head is n terminal, have this configuration and so the coiled-coiled domain is almost perpendicular to the filament. In the other configuration, the pull is toward the minus end: but remember that the kinesin 13 has lost its motor function.
