Document Summary

Experiment title: synthesis and analysis of a chromium salt. The purpose of performing this lab was to determine the chromium content present in different solutions with the present transition metal. You will be analyzing the complex ion being synthesized once it is placed in standard solutions. Using a spectrophotometer, the absorbance will be measured for chromium nitrate. 400 ml of water in a 600 ml beaker. Then, the compound: 2h2o was combined d to 2 grams of k2cr2o7. under a fume hood, the crystals were. H2c2o4 grinded, until the formation of powedered like substance. The mixture was place on an evaporating dish, which was covered with a watch glass. After a short interval the mixture appeared to be liquidy. While the liquid was hot 10 ml of ethanol was poured over it. The excess liquid was poured into a waste beaker. While stirring the mixture it soon appeared to form a solid black compound.
