Document Summary
Time scale of solar system: using ga = giga annum 1 billion years. Age of sun + solar system = 4. 57 ga this is based on models of evolution and use primitive (not changed) solar system objects. We use meteorites to measure time (carbonaceous chondrites) we use carbonaceous chondrites because they"re unchanged since the beginning. Age of earth = 4. 54 ga a bit younger than age of solar system. We get this measurement based on age of rocks + what we know about the evolution of the solar system. We don"t have any rocks this old older rocks can be weathered or damaged or affected by the rock cycle (intense volcanic activity) 4. 5bya the solar system was just gas and dust (nebula). This cloud starts rotating and it starts forming planetesmials. It collapses in on itself and it flattens, creating a denser mass in the centre (sun). The rest of it just flattens out into a disc.
