Time scale of solar system: using ga = giga annum 1 billion years. Age of sun + solar system = 4. 57 ga this is based on models of evolution and use primitive (not changed) solar system objects. We don"t have any rocks this old older rocks can be weathered or damaged or affected by the rock cycle (intense volcanic activity) 4. 5bya the solar system was just gas and dust (nebula). This cloud starts rotating and it starts forming planetesmials. It collapses in on itself and it flattens, creating a denser mass in the centre (sun). The rest of it just flattens out into a disc.
