Document Summary
The climate system is even more complicated, because of feedbacks exist in environment system but climate system in particular: positive feedback cycles (self-reinforcing) Output feds back in and reinforces the direction everything was moving in. A vicious cycle of more more water vapor = more evaporation and more heating, etc. Example: warming evaporation of seawater more water vapour in atmosphere more warming: negative feedback cycles (self-limiting) Homeostatic feedback start with same premise and works in a way to remain homeostasis heating of surface triggers albedo and cools surface back down. Example: warming evaporation of seawater more cloud cover blocks incoming radiation cooling: these feedbacks interact in complex ways. It is complicated and non-linear so we don"t k(cid:374)ow whether it will (cid:272)ool (cid:373)ore or heat more. We do(cid:374)"t k(cid:374)ow a(cid:271)out what t(cid:455)pe of (cid:272)louds will for(cid:373) Example: aerosols and clouds can have either a warming or cooling effect. Shows that (cid:272)o(cid:374)ditio(cid:374) of at(cid:373)osphere has(cid:374)"t (cid:271)een going on for too long.
