War = means to end (a strategy to get what they wanted which was more power and control) Violence = not inevitable (can go one way or another) Hatred among serbs, croats, muslims (have hated each other for thousands of years) Acted on hatred when opportunity arose (cold war) War = end in itself (expression of those inherit animosity) (inherit to hate other groups to kill, etc. )
