Incudes affective, cognitive, and social aspects of development: social psychology focuses on how we relate to others and how others influence our behaviours, feelings and thoughts. The child"s own genes might affect what the child does and wants as he/she grows. Incorporations contextual variations into social processes: look at all various influences in the child"s developmental, ex. Bronfenbrenner"s ecology of human development: still major challenges for researchers. Methods of study: change over time is our primary concern, there is no perfect design, so we do a cross-sequential design which uses a bunch of different methods.
