Reach conclusions based on evidence over speculation: democratic (1750) Key points: encouraged evidence-based conclusions about society, not speculation, theory: conjecture about the way observed facts are related; testable, logical, fits evidence. Scientific method: using evidence to make a case for a particular pov: people organize and control society, not god, human intervention can solve social problems and change society.
