Criminalization- how do you regulate a population: by criminalizing it thus banning that behavior- in order to achieve this you need power or authority. We think of street crime but it is much broader- anything that is violated in the book of laws- an act is like an assault-punch. Whereas omission is not doing some thing- neglecting not feeding a child, not reporting child abuse. Criminal justice system- all agencies, organizations and personnel that involved in the prevention of and respond to crime, persons charge with crime. Actus reus- even possession like weapons/ drugs even if u didn"t do anything with them. Status- drugs are illegal but saying you are a drug user is not illegal. Mens rea- knowledge- should have known it was gonna cause harm, reckless- they compare the crime to what a rational person would do, If you break a law then you u have used both- the intent and the action.
