Folds called plicae- that increases sa for absorption- found in mucosa of small intestine. Surrounds muscularis mucosae thin layer of muscle surround gastrointestinal tract. Large blood vessels and lymphatic are here: the muscularis externa. Dominated by smooth muscle fibers: the serosa. Movement of digestive materials through the digestive tract. Muscularis externa moves materials through the digestive tract .
