Altruistic behavior: intrinsically motivated conduct intended to help others without expectation of acknowledgement or reward. Fear avoidance model of chronic stress mastery, anxiety, and depression. 3 major stages: obtaining mastery, if fail anxiety is activated, lastly hyperactivity replaced with passivity and depression. Na (n. ambiguus = ventral vagus = newer) New ventral motor nucleus ambiguus (na) myelinated. When diseased newer structures are the first to fail. When stressed newer structures and their associated behavioral strategies are the first to fail.
