How to name sedimentary rocks is when they are found in sedimentary rocks - environment of formation sedimentary rocks are coming from other broken down bits from other rocks. Physical weathering is - near surface fracturing frost and mineral wedging , thermal expansion , Chemical weathering - dissolution , oxidation , hydrolysis , biological reactions. Clastic sediments are moved by and deposited by water , wind and glaciers. Clastic sediments named by size clay, silt, sand , pebbles, cobbles, boulders. Clastic sediments rocks are also named by granisize mudstone/shale, sandstone , conglomerate. Under microscope- rounded grains and outcrop structures - boulders. Clastic sedimentary rocks - conglomerate, breccia , sandstone , siltstone , shale. Conglomerate ( rounded clasts) /breccia ( angular clasts ) - sedimentary; clastic - forms from broken bits of other rocks. Stand stone - sedimentary; clastic - can form from sand moved by wind or water ( sand dunes )
