Human has a long history trying to understand the world around them. (e. g. chemistry, physics) We believed that we are spirits in the material world. Different than the world around us, not physical & material. If not, can"t be studied scientifically - does not follow scientific laws. Therefore, we didn"t apply science to ourselves (also the behaviour) Must follow some sort of natural laws, then we can figure it out. Law can eventually be understood, specified, and used to predict future behaviour. Souls are spiritual entities they do not conform to natural laws, does not make sense to figure it out if there is no law. Trying to understand them via a scientific process does not work. The distinction between spiritual world and physical world. E. g. we believe god can move the mountain - doesn"t follow the rule. Four elements: air, earth, fire & water. E. g. rock fall down - the earth wants to be with earth.
