Document Summary
Chapter 9: intelligence wrap up, chapter 11: emotion. Damage to different areas of the brain affect certain areas of intelligence. Different kids learn the best in environments that support areas of intelligence they are high in. Characteristics of the distribution of iq scores. Mean is always 100, designed that way. Normally distributed; 68% of pop falls between +/- one standard deviation (+/- 15) Intellectual disability = below 70; approx 2% of the pop falls below 70. Test-retest reliability is good over a short period of time. Infant iq doesn"t really predict child/adult iq. Child and adult iq correlation gets lower and lower with longer time intervals. Iq scores in the pop have increased over time. May not be entirely accurate to say they are still increasing. If an iq test from 1940 were given today the average score would likely be above 100. Ability to access new info has increased (b/c increased literacy and also internet)
