Human babies don"t really do anything when they"re born: they can"t walk or talk, they"re pretty much stationary and require extensive care (parents/ caregiver) to survive. Human babies are helpless and lack basic survival skills compare to other animal babies. The scientific study of biological, cognitive, social, and personality development through the lifespan. Developmental psychology doesn"t only look at kids, it studies development between time periods, whether it"s from infant to old age, or 3 months to 6 months to 9 months infant. A major issue in developmental psychology is the nature versus nurture question. Cross-sectional: a number of groups all at the same time, but related to different age groups. Cohort effect: the particular impact of a group bonded by time or common life experience. Pro: whatever changes found is due to development.
