Some tests are on the extreme end in which only those with high iq"s can solve. Sometimes these are preferred because it eliminates cultural biases. Symbols however can still have some biases. Someone"s perspective on fig2 may change if they have a better understanding of cards. There is a general debate whether or not we should study some things scientifically that may not have any real merit for real life application but fuel things such as hate and oppression. Scientists claim they are only searching for the truth. There are many culturally biased factors in the tests themselves. Take the harlem tests: the ways people speak can change how people interpret tests. Upper class rich white kids and poorer black kids. However, change the test to a language that was more common to the poorer children in harlem, black children outperformed the white. Black square = someone who is brilliant or has an exceptional scientific ability.
