Document Summary
Chapter 14: replicability, generalization, and the real world. To be important, a study must be replicable. If a study can be repeated and the same results achieved, the study is considered to be replicable. This is very important when evaluating the merit of a study"s claims. When a researcher performs a study again, the study is a replication study. In a direct replication, the researchers aim to repeat the study as closely as possible. Researchers have theorized that most people associate letters in their name with happiness. Team of researchers suggested that people were more attracted to people who shared names, a birthday, or initials. This was tested experimentally and later replicated by the team of john jones. The conditions cannot be completely replicated because some of the conditions would have been specific enough to perfectly replicate. In a conceptual replication, the same research question is used but with different procedures.
