Document Summary

Variable > anything that can take on more than one value. Ex. a study shows that students who work up to 20 hours a week outside school have better gpas than students who don"t work outside school. The two variables would be students gpa and how many hours a week. Variable vs constant depending on the study. A study shows that part-time students who work up tp 20 hours a week have better gpas than full-time and part0time students who do not work outside school. A constant is referred to as a control variable > the researchers have control over this, it stays the same. If ppl are taking drugs for something else, they can not take the drug study. Measured variable is observed and the value is recorded. Manipulated variable is when the researcher changes the value. Some variables are always measured but some can be either. It is temporarily possible to alter someone"s self-esteem.
