Class objective: today we will do the opposite, we are looking at the mind to understand the world. Top down process important for object perception: experience helps you to experience information. Areas in the brain: in humans similar system exists with more than 30 areas other than area v1. Images are even more complicated than what we know (v1, v2, v3 . ). these areas show an increase of specialization of images. Lateral occipital complex (loc) this is for object recognition, and object processing. Para hippocampal place area(ppa): this area is involved in recognizing scenery photos of locations etc. Fusiform face area (ffa):face, damage will be prosopagnosia. Extrastriata body area(eba): bodies , doesn"t matter with face, use this area to just posture: these areas are mostly organized in the ventral stream. It goes to the lower portions of temporal cortex. This goes to temporal lobe from occipital lobe: dorsal stream projects to parietal cortex.
