Document Summary

Light: a wave; a stream of photons, tiny particles that each consist of one energy: light can be absorbed, diffracted, re ected, transmitted, or refracted. Wednesday, january 16, 2019: refracted: energy that is altered as it passes into another medium, (e. g. , light entering water from the air) This is done by the four optical components. The ciliary muscles change the shape of the lens, and thus alter its refractive power: Ciliary muscles do not contract they relax using exible muscles. Optic disc = the point in which the bold vessels enter/ exit. Optic nerve = bundle of axons that transmit neural signals/info. Uid in the anterior chamber of the eye. Vitreous humour: the transparent uid that lls the vitreous chamber in the posterior part of the eye. Retina: a light-sensitive membrane in the back of the that contains rods and cones. Receive an image from the lens & sends it back to the brain through the optic nerve.
