PSYC02H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Systematic Review, Duplicate Publication
Document Summary
Different types of articles can be found in research journals. Serve diff purposes & offer diff types of information. Peer-reviewed before it"s published it"s been read and critiqued by peers in that field. Different types of reviews, which summarize and evaluate literature that has already been published. Vary in terms of structure and approach. The use of statistical methods to summarise the results of these studies is a statistical procedure for combining numerical data from multiple separate studies. A meta-analysis should only ever be conducted in the context of a systematic review. Quantitative procedures for combining the results of published studies to offer a statistical review of a specific research question. Takes the results of many studies (pool) and puts them together to see what findings are really coming out. Answers a defined research question by collecting and summarising all empirical evidence that fits pre-specified eligibility criteria.
