Functions of media: charles wrigth was one of the earliest sociologists to analyze the media from functionalist perspective. Surveillance: media tells us what is happening around the world , media plays an important role in informing the public. Interpretation: media also interpret what is going on and tell us how should we response to events. Socialization: media transmits norms, rules and customs from one generation onto other. Entertainment: media provide us with content that we find interesting and enjoyable.
