Document Summary

The reformation was not a continuation of a new perspective, one that would directly lead to the sr after. A continuation of a new perspective, that would directly lead to the scientific revolution. You see, people began to see the work of the early church fathers and the text would suffice. Thus, the tradition of popes and councils slowly lost any previous merit it had. The works of erasmus and more provided the roots, the ammunition, to strike off this. They weakened the church by criticizing it, pinpointing all of its contradictions. Yet they did not want to do away with the church entirely as luther desired, merely rework it. The church was meant to be a uniting factor, however this was not the case with germany, a non-united country with 100s of minor states. After a near-death experience, having been struck by lightning, luther dedicated the remainder of his life to being a monk.
