Observational: no intervention on the part of researchers. Experimental: some degree of intervention on the part of the research. Ecological studies: used to generate for further testing. Ecological fallacy: drawing inappropriate conclusion at the individual level using ecological- level data. Cross-sectional studies: used to measure disease prevalence at one point in time. Case-control studies: start with cases (people with a disease of interest) and compare them with controls (people without disease) Cohort studies: start with population free of disease and investigate development of disease in exposed and non-exposed groups.
