When the ligands acts on the molecules, the receptors comes together. When the receptor binds, it moves into the nucleus. When its unbinbed its inactive, when its binded its active. The drug has a shape that mimics the ligand. When the drug binds and blocks the ligand, it creates altered physiological responses. The produ(cid:272)ts don t fit as well as the su(cid:271)strate does. We are interested in these regions because these regions could predict protein changes, because they could give us a hint of where to start. We want to make drugs against drivers, because they drive the disease. Graph is organizing drugs by molecular weight, not many drugs are really small or really large. Most drugs that seem to wrk in people have a molecular weight of 200-500m. S the molecular are large and polar, they wont be able to cross barriers. The scores are how likely the molecules are to dissolve in different phases.

1. Bacteria that cannot construct new cell wall material become fragile and break down.
2. During influenza infection, the viral enzyme neuraminidase is required to release new viruses from the host cell in which they were made. Once released, the new viruses can infect many additional cells.
3. Thermus aquaticus is a bacterium found in hot springs and can live at temperatures up to ~80°C (175°F). It has adapted so that its enzymes are most functional at the elevated temperatures, compared with many organisms’ enzymes that function best ~37°C (98°F).
4. Until the isolation and investigation of retroviruses, scientists thought that RNA could be copied from DNA, but DNA could not be copied from RNA. Research on this class of viruses led to an update to this “Central Dogma” of biology.
