Document Summary

Blood is red due to presence of pigment (hemoglobin) Blood is sticky proteins associated with blood that offer blood its sticky characteristics. Blood is life sustaining supplies essential for survival. Heart pumps about 5l of blood every minute which is about 75 gallons/ hour 70 barrels /day. Functions of blood transport (transporting various substances)+ defense (protecting the body) Transport function of blood transport gases oxygen from lungs to tissues and co2 from tissues to lungs. Blood also transports nutrients these nutrients are transported from gi tract to cells, in the cells is where most of metabolic processes are happening and require nutrients, nutrients are also transported from storage sites to cells. As cells partake in metabolic processes they also produce cellular wastes and need to be transported from the cells so blood aids to transport cellular wastes to kidneys for elimination (in form of urine mostly)
