Document Summary
Lecture 3: cardiovascular system cardiac ap to aortic flow (electrocardiogram) Waves appear as deflections above or below the baseline. Segments are sections of baseline between two waves. Intervals are combinations of waves and segments: difference waves of the ecg reflect depolarization or repolarization of the atria and ventricles, three major waves can be seen on a normal ecg (from lead i) The p wave corresponds to depolarization of the atria. The qrs complex a trio of waves represents the progressive wave of ventricular depolarization (as well as atrial repolarization) T wave represents repolarization of the ventricles. P-r segment: conduction through the av node and av bundle. If not, a problem with conduction of signals through av node might exist. In heart block, aps from the sa node sometimes fail to be transmitted through the av node to the ventricles: one or more p waves may occur without initiating a qrs complex.
