Document Summary

Top-down processing: knowledge-driven percepion give meaning to percepion. Botom-up processing: data-driven percepion depends on salience of simulus. Patern of neuron acivaion is the way how object is represented in the brain. Firing of neuron gets more complex as simulus become more complex. Problem with goens: recogniion by component (rbc) can"t diferent subcategories of objects of individuals only a mould. Subcategories of an object probably have the same geon component, but they are diferent individuals. Object recogniion is more dependent on viewpoint than predicted by rbc: faster recogniion from familiar viewpoints. Other illusions: memory (top-down processing) of shadows and light sources inluence how we perceive colour, visual illusions tell us that top-down processes (ltm, schemas, templates) inluence our botom-up process. Experise does not give any advantage to overcome cogniive inluence: experts sill described all perceived white wine to be white wine, even though one of them was red wine dyed white.
