Law is in the domain of the social. It is a human, and thus a social institution. Law impacts the social and the social impacts the law. We study law, legality and legal issues by using methodologies and theories that are not solely legal. We draw on research and methodologies from other disciplines to enhance our study and critique of law, legality, and legal issues. We bridge the study of the legal with other disciplines history, economics, international development, sociology, anthropology, criminology, semiotics, literary studies, women"s studies, and others. Social control : informal: internalization of shared norms, formal : explicit rules of conduct, sanctions to support rules, designated to interpret & enforce the rules.
