Document Summary

Always seems like the good way (model of science for long time) Observations of the world occur completely in a neutral fashion. We"d see anything the same way (attitudes, processes, institutions) Transformed into a synonym for bias, lack of rigor (model of science for long time) Observations of the world are inherently influenced by our background. When we observe sth, we may not describe it the exact way as sb else. Acknowledgement: no matter what you do, it actually matters who is doing it. If all descriptions and measurements are done by just 1 group of ppl in society, you are only getting a partial picture. Cuz some stuff are understood better/differently by another group. Conversation has shifted to what are the legitimate ways to use subjectivity in the pursuit of science! Nobody can read every single piece of research relevant to their area. Background comes into play: choice of methods.
