Neural tube made at the same times as somites: neural tube comes from ectoderm, notochord next to ectoderm (cause of notochord, ectoderm get diff signals and form. 3 diff things: neural plate (spinal cord), epidermis, neural crest) Notochord signals and causes folding an bending to form neural tube. Primary neurulation (forming neural tube: form neural plate, bend neural plate, close neural plate. Between is mixed area =neural crest cause low levels of bmp (have to do with proximity) Bending: once notochord has signal to form nueral plate and continues differentiate, signals sonic. Form shape change called medial hinge point: chick embyro has primitive streak stop movings anterior and hensens node move anterior posterior. Bend involve shape change (triangular) dorsal lateral hinge points (causing bending that brings 2 surfaces together) Closure is not all at once (anterior to posterior) need caherins: notochord converge/extend and secretes noggin etc (inhibits bmp and change in expression of cadherins)
