Zeus, prometheus and the creation of women in hesiod"s theogony and works and. Life was once good for humans, but now its hard > we must work and suffer. Prometheus thought he could outwit zeus, but no-one can surpass the mind of zeus . Age because they failed to make sacri ces to the gods. Children did not respect their parents in the iron age. Pyrrha and deucalion marry and grow old together. Because of their virtue (or warned by prometheus), they build an ark and are the sole survivors of a ood sent by zeus. They repopulate the earth on instructions of the oracle of the goddess themis. In order to repopulate, they have to take their mother"s bones and throw them over their shoulders (don"t want to do that) > instead they take mother earth"s bone (rocks) It may have arisen from ritual worship of the god dionysus (ritual as performance)
