Part of the series of disturbed relationships between god and mankind that begins in the babel story. Babel story mankind"s distance from god articulated as a linguistic distance humanity is scattered linguistically. Job: tragic (or at least painful) depiction of relationship. Note: we are told in genesis that we are made in the image and likeness of god. God tells jonah to go to ninevah. Called by god, but tries to run away on a boat; god creates a storm, and the people throw him over board and the storm stops people believed in his god and they convert to his religion. Goes to ninevah and tells the king that the entire city will be destroyed by god in 40 days. The king decides to change himself, and his city; god decides not to kill them because he realizes they are no longer living in sin/they changed their ways. Disturbed relationships between god and man (first proposed in babel tale)
