The screen resolution is the number of pixels across (rows) by the number of pixels down (columns). With a higher resolution, so more pixels, you can fit more data onto the screen. Amount of space the image takes up on the screen is dependent on: size of the image, the current resolution of the screen, not the dpi, dpi does not matter on monitors but ppi does.
