Document Summary
Digital video often adheres to standards for tv broadcasting. Regular analog tv broadcasting began in the u. s in 1939. Before 1996 all tv was broadcasting using interlaced display fields. The original analog video choices made about tv displays (frames per second, frame size etc. ) affect the standards that were picked for digital video. Human eyes see phosphor dots on the screen. An electron beam activates the dots, by scanning the dots horizontally othis scan draws every other line, then begins again with every even line. Each of these passes is called a field. The frame size of ntsc standard dv frame is 720 pixels by 480 pixels. High definition: o1440 x 1080 o1280 x 720. Sampling: oeach frame is sampled into a discrete samples and each sample becomes a pixel. More samples means better quality, more samples means bigger. Quantizing: files oeach pixel gets assigned a colour. 2 colours (1 bit colour), 16 million colour (24 bit colour)
