A big epidemic that affects a large part of the world or the whole world. No set number to be consider a pandemic. Ex. breaks out in a college or factory , neighbourhood. Public health service get a lot of pressure to not use the word epidemic. Non infectious ex. cancer just a few cases of something but no spike. High death rates, horrible , rapid and nasty disease. A specific disease , rude word to call it. Pestilence - same meaning as plague and epidemic. Meaning word epidemic = can mean multiple diseases or just one- usually just one.
