They did not report the smell until 15 hours later. They said that the odour was contained and just an odour, but that wasn"t the case. The amount of carcinogen in the air increased. Benzene is a carcinogen that is definite to humans. Sarnia pumps out three to five times the annual limit of benzene. Citizens are constantly in danger because of the risks of cancer due to benzene. No body is shocked people are getting cancer. People who are exposed to benzene constantly are more at risk. Leukemia is sarnia is similar to the rest of ontario.
