Universal access to health care as necessary but insufficient condition for health equity. Signals there is a lot more to health. The social and economic environments in which people live and that determine their health. Examples of social determinants include housing, job security, working conditions, education, income, social class, gender, aboriginal status, and the social safety net. The quality of these reflects how resources are distributed. The quality of these determinants is a reflection of how society is organized and how it distributes its economic and social resources. Sdh reflect the quantity and quality of resources that society makes available to its members. It is not about an individual controlled his/her own risk factors; about the conditions that society makes available that enable or disable how people live. The health field concept was one of the first attempts in an official document to define what health is.
