Health Sciences 2300A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Medial Pterygoid Muscle, Temporal Bone, Salivary Gland
Document Summary
Skeletal muscles move bones, so you still need bones, joints. Be prepared with bones and joints, integrate the information. Functions- what causes the muscles, multiple muscles across a joint. Naming system seems to make sense, lots based on the function- understand what the muscles do. Function & size- extensor digitorum longus- digitorum- finger, this muscle extends the finger; longus- long (because there is a short muscle) Pectoralis major- largest muscle in pectoral region. Sometimes based on ligaments- biceps branchii- from the arm, arm, elbow to shoulder, 2 origins, 2 heads. Some bae on shape- rectus femoris- femoral region; rectus- straight muscle. Sartorius muscles- asis- anterior superior iliac spine, to the medial tibia, this muscle crosses the leg. The muscular system- muscles of the head and neck. Within skeletal muscle, look at the regional aspect. Go from head to trunk to hips. Compartments: each muscle attachment, nerve supplies, function of the muscles. Muscle crosses that joint associate to it.
