Document Summary

Illiofemoral = goes from the ilium to the femur (can see from both sides) Liga(cid:373)e(cid:374)t of the head of the fe(cid:373)ur = does(cid:374)"t atta(cid:272)h to (cid:271)o(cid:374)e, it atta(cid:272)hes to the (cid:272)apsule, this is why we forget this ligament is there because is seems useless to the function of the structure. Blood supply to the head of the femur is so important, because it withstands a lot of stress (it"s at a right angle) and bears a lot of weight, therefore a lot of blood supply is required. Largest and most complicated joint of the body (synovial) Acl = attached anterior, pcl attaches posterior on the tibia plateau. Disk inside the capsule = menisci (c shaped), provides support. The picture on the left we have the capsule, on the right (a cadaver) and they have removed the capsule. Often hear about these getting injured, especially the acl. Talk about the acl and pcl = differ on their tibial attachment.
