In my essay I will discuss why the professors and the Administration at Western University
should treat the use of study drugs as academic dishonesty, at any point during the exam period
preparation or completion. Addiction, illegal purchase and selling of drugs, athletic enhancement
vs. cognitive enhancement will all be discussed as support.
Thesis 1: Western should consider “study drugs” as academic dishonesty at any point during the
exam period, furthermore anabolic steroid use in sports, ethics/morals behind the use and the
“unfair advantage” that it causes back up my opinion.
Thesis 2: Western University should consider the unprescribed use of ADHD medication as
academic dishonesty, anabolic steroid use in sports, ethics/morals behind the use and the “unfair
advantage” reinforce why the unprescribed use of this medication should have consequences.
Thesis 3: Western states one thing in their Code of Conduct but acts differently in the eyes of
students, the school should consider the unprescribed use of ADHD medication as academic
dishonesty; anabolic steroid use in sports, ethics/morals behind the use and the “unfair
advantage” reinforce why the unprescribed use of this medication should have consequences.
Thesis 4: Western University should manage the unprescribed use of ADHD medication on
campus as well as consider it academic dishonesty. Not only is it illegally obtained but ethics/
morals behind the use, the “unfair advantage”, the dishonesty and comparison to the use of
anabolic steroid use in sports, reinforce the reasoning behind it.
