Photovoice: health promotion strategy where people use cameras to document health & work realities. Used to carry out public health initiatives, needs assessment, participation evaluation and reach policy makers. Article explains how to minimize harm and maximize benefits of photovoice. Discuss issues of importance to the community in large and small groups to promote critical dialogue, produce shared knowledge. Photovoice must adhere to the principles of respect for autonomy promotion of social justice active promotion of good avoidance of harm. Examples from the article are from photovoice project in flint, michigan. Photovoice developed by wang, burris and colleagues, first developed for village women in rural. Photovoice is based on the 3 beliefs of Jo spence (british photographer): community photograph is a way of thinking about how ordinary people could use a camera for recent change makes it possible for people to look at the world differently, helps tell a story.
