Dendrite: receptive field, information comes in, info directed towards cell body for cell to act or not, rare examples of dendrites not existing on axons, axon hillock is connection from cell body to cell itself. Anterograde: sends signal away from cell body. Retrograde: sends signal back to cell body. Als: transport of motor neurons is inhibited resulting in motor dysfunction. Synapse: when neuron is stimulated, neuron transmoitors something, neurotransmitters stimulate dendrites, microglia, astrocytes. Originate in red bone marrow and migrate to cns. Works like tissue microphages and removes cellular debris. Neurons that have myolin sheeth can transfer information much faster: shwaan cells. Central nervous system will transmit faster than peripheral nervous system. Muscle contracts and gland secretions come from cns impulses.
