Kinesiology 2241A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Force Platform, Indoor Rower, Accelerometer
Document Summary
The mechanics of structure & function or the physics of biological movements: kinesiology, animal, injury, occupational, rehabilitation / sport. Must be considered an inherent part of physical therapy, which purports the distinctive characteristics of prevention, evaluation, and treatment. Dictates the quality of athletes or quality of performance. Used to study the impact of diseases & disabilities in common everyday tasks. Studies the relationship between athletes and their equipment so they can optimize their performance. Two types of biomechanics: statics- the relationship between forces that keep objects in balance. Ex: a bridge the study of statics was used to balance the force amongst a bridge (how much weight it can hold: dynamics- the relationship between forces and their effect on motion. Forces that cause us to walk and remain above the ground, forces that help us swim down the lane of a pool, etc. Forces that causes accelerations: action/reaction forces keeps everything in balance, friction, rubbing, gravity.
