Document Summary
Effective teaching may well be the most important of the group fitness instructor"s role. Need to follow a simple system, design an effective class, and teach the correct exercises. First understand the exercise participants; next the overall goal of the class should be determined to to aid in exercise selection. After the class is over you must determine the quality of the class (evaluate how well the student met the goals and objectives of the class) Determine the movements based on the class. Provide beginners with specific information about what is important. Moving from beginner to advanced level: enhance motivation to learn- instructors need to develop classes that appeal to the participants, progress gradually from simple to complex movements, offer feedback- to improve performance. Having participants of different levels and special populations in one class = challenging teaching environment. Be familiar with the health history/fitness level of each participant; will help you to develop modifications.
