Kinesiology 3339A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 24: Function Problem, Skimmed Milk, Bone Mineral
Document Summary
Prior to supplementation there was no difference in peak torque. With placebo supplementation, peak force outcome was same before and after supplementation. Over 4 weeks the peak torque did not change, group did not do any better with placebo supplementation. With creatine supplementation, subjects improved 7. 5% with creatine supplementation, that increase in performance increased over the first few weeks. The change in peak torque over 5 weeks is not significant from week to week. The only significant change is seen from 0 days to week 1, important is that they increased after initial supplementation and remained the same for 4 weeks (not linear increase) Injection of caffeine does not interfere with creatine effect: study suggests that creatine supplementation benefits were negated if you were drinking coffee or caffein as supplement. It is already known that caffein does enhance performance related to fat utilization or cns stimulation.
