Document Summary
We made an assumption that you were exercising at 3l a min (intensity), to convert from l of oxygen to calories = multiply each l by 5 (1 l = 5 calories) We used an intensity of 15 kcals per min. Only 20-25% of energy used goes to mechanical work. Humidity = air is saturated with water vapour, when this happens, you cant dissipate heat through sweating. If you were able to dissipate a l of sweat, yout sweat or control heat = body temperature goes up by 12 degrees in some cases, with increases of 4 degrees = denaturing of proteins. Different water compartments: water moves from one to another. as it does, the cells become dehydrated.
