Kinesiology 3476F/G Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Health Action Process Approach, Accelerometer, Sample Size Determination
Document Summary
Study: using a combined protection motivation theory and hapa intervention to promote exercise. Purpose: augment a pmt-based pa intervention with action planning and coping planning intervention grounded in health action process approach. Intention-behaviour gap: just because you have a strong intention to do something doesn"t mean you will 100% do it there"s a gap between something you intend to do and actually performing it hapa bridges this gap through: post-intentional constructs. If action and coping planning are strong, you are more than likely to perform the behaviour. Participants: a sample of 53 women who were on average 20. 9 weeks pregnant. Baseline accelerometer week took baseline activity levels objectively. Then brought back in and randomized into 3 groups: pmt+ diet info: attention control, pmt + action plan, pmt+ action plan and coping plan. 4wks: follow up accelerometer + questionnaire did this to measure maintenance.
